THE PERSON
Hi there! It’s Alejandra Caballero, and as a biologist and multi-media specialist, my time at Virginia Tech was spent constantly finding ways to blend the anchor of scientific truth with the wings of impactful communication. By the use different medias and through my efforts I was able to fuel my passion for public health engagement to general audiences and saw how rewarding and varied the world of science communication could really be. There’s gaps to be filled in this world and us as communicators and lovers of the truth to utilize all mediums as channels to reach the people in our ever evolving scientific world. My goal emerging into the science communication field myself is to continue to build bridges and open those channels so all may have access to education and knowledge of the truth.
Some of the endeavors I was able to complete during my time at Virginia Tech was be a staff writer for the university newspaper, Virginia Tech’s Collegiate Times, a touring ambassador for the College of Science, President of the Association of Latinos for Mental Health Awareness at Virginia Tech, sister to a professional engineering and technical science sorority Alpha Omega Epsilon, Dean’s List, as well dive into personal passion projects of my own! I continue to build upon my portfolio and grow the world of where communication, design, and science come together as one.
